FoF4 Gomez Release LR

Believe it or not, we are now just under 5 weeks away till the Yamaha NZ Festival of Freeride 4 kicks off big time at Karioitahi Beach. It’s coming round fast. Entires have been flooding in and sponsors are clambering to be involved. It is going to be an absolute smash hit!!
In breaking news this week we are pumped to announce that Mark Gomez, 2015 IFWA World Champion, will be in attendance at the FoF. Thanks to the generosity of a few the champ will be tearing up the mighty west coast surf with you all. Watch out!!
Marks’ riding is next level and extremely energetic, a absolute pleasure to watch. To win the IFWA World Tour, let alone on his rookie year in that competition, is a testament to his ability and passion for the sport. Everyone will have the chance to get out there and ride with him, get a few tips along the way, and after all of that you can join in a bit of banter with him over a beer or two at the pub.
Bring on the Yamaha NZ Festival of Freeride 4!!
p.s. Entries are open for another week so if you haven’t entered better get onto it. Link above in the menu.

Yamaha NZ Festival of Freeride 4

FoF4 - Poster v3 LR

Oh yes… We are back !! It is extremely exciting to announce that the Yamaha NZ Festival of Freeride 4 is on in late Feb 2016. It really does feel like just the other day the planing started on the first FoF at Sunset Beach. The FoF4 will be returning to Karioitahi Beach and the Auckland Jet Sport Association (AJSA) is proud to be hosting this event once again.

The 2016 event will be on Friday February 26th and Saturday February 27th (with Sunday Feb 28th as a backup for horrendous conditions). With the overall success of the last 2 FoF’s it is a no-brainier to return to Karioitahi Beach. So make sure you get this into your diaries asap and organise your leave early.

Once again Yamaha New Zealand are back on board from the get go with title sponsorship of this, the 4th iteration, of the FoF event. We simply could not do it without them and their support since the beginning has been amazing!!

There is plenty more information to released over the next few months and we’ll post it up as soon as it is available. Entries will be available to anyone and everyone and we hope to see everyone again from last years event and some new faces. We encourage anyone participating, or interested, in freeride to come along and enjoy riding with others of all experience levels.

We can’t wait to see everyone back again for the Yamaha NZ Festival of Freeride 4. New Zealand’s Premiere Surf Freestyle event!!

FoF3 – Thank You and Event Video

It’s been just over a week and a half since the Yamaha Festival of Freeride 3 came to a close and only now are we getting back to a sense of normality. Another cracker of an event in which we surpassed our own expectations once again.

A massive thank you to Brendan and the team at Yamaha Marine NZ. We simply could not have put the event on without your support. Once again Yamaha were the first sponsor on board and that support really makes life a lot easier from the get go.

The contribution to the event from our major sponsors this year was fantastic. Otago Personal Watercraft, 701 Industries, Krash Industries, Supreme Blast & Paint, Rogers Boatshop, and Rapid Radio we sincerely thank you for your backing of the event.

There was the ever generous support of KP Parts, Random Performance, NZfreeride, Thrust Innovations, MB Fabrications, Motul, Air Time Products, JetManiac, HuckIt, ProRider Magazine and JetPilot. All of these sponsors made sure you had some awesome product and swag to choose from at the prize giving. As with every year, there are so many events on these days and for the event to be chosen and supported by the above is very humbling.

To all the participants of the FoF3 – thank you so very much for supporting the only free ride event in New Zealand. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic location to hold the event. Most of you had a long way to travel so we appreciate you making the effort to support the event. A huge thank you to Pierre Maixent for finding the time to come to NZ and experience the FoF. We hope you enjoyed the NZ hospitality.

A special thanks to Reece and the team from Rogers Boatshop for the, once again, delicious BBQ that they provided during the event. Thanks also to Red Bull for their support of the event, ensuring everyone was suitably energised with wiiings to go big.

A massive thank you to Simon le Comte for making time to come from Australia to NZ to support our event with his specialist water safety skills. It makes life so much easier when you have an experienced, and qualified, individual dedicated to marshalling. Thanks also to Jack Burton, who once again selflessly provided his ski for marshalling duties, was running about getting gear ready prior to the event, and was the first there on the beach each morning. And also again, a massive thanks to Pauly Paul for all his help in sussing out a lot of the gear we used on the beach. Also big thanks to the Marine Medics team for being there both days to make sure we had the appropriate medical cover.

To all the others that have contributed to the event thank you so much. You know who you are. Thank you to everyone that chipped in with setting up, running, and packing down the event. Awesome stuff and was very much appreciated.

Finally, something special has been put together by Guy Mac to capture the essence of the Yamaha NZ Festival of Freeride 3. A huge thank you to him for turning around such a fantastic event video in such a short space of time. Also, Craig Patterson, thanks so very much for coming out with your epic drone that had provided the most unbelievable footage. Very very jaw dropping stuff.

Make sure you go full screen, HD on, and plenty of sound. Enjoy, and remember to “Support those that support the sport”.
