Abraham Ho joins the FoF Party
Its the 5th birthday for the Yamaha NZ Festival of Freeride and we thought we’d better make sure we celebrate in style this year. And there is no better way to do that than have someone go HUGE on a ski at the event.
So we’re extremely excited to let you know that Abraham Ho will be attending the FoF this year. Undoubtedly one of few the riders around the world synonymous with going big. It is going to be great to see him tackle our west coast surf.
If you want to learn the secrets of big air then make sure your entered into the FoF and come get some tips from the man pushing the limits.

Yamaha NZ Festival of Freeride
On the 20th of December 2012 the Auckland Jet Sport Association announced plans to host the first ever freeride jetski event in New Zealand. Based off the hugely successful Cronulla Rip’n Ride we simply aimed to get as many people together from around New Zealand for a weekend of surf riding and shenanigans with friends and family. For those of you that attended (and can remember) the inaugural event at Sunset Beach, Port Waikato was a smashing success.
Well, with 4 years of the FoF under our belt the AJSA is back again to announce the running of the 5th Anniversary Yamaha New Zealand Festival of Freeride…. YEOW!!! Let’s Ride!!!
The 2017 event will be held again at Karioitahi Beach, Waiuku on Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th of February 2017 (with Sunday Feb 19th as a backup for horrendous conditions). Make sure you get on and fill out those leave forms, lock it in your diary, because its our 5th birthday and we’re all going to celebrate in style!!
It is with a huge amount of appreciation that we can announce Yamaha New Zealand as title sponsors once again. We say it every year “We could not do this it without Yamaha!!” and by jingoes we mean it. Their support since the inaugural event has been nothing short of amazing and to have them back for the 5th anniversary celebrations is fantastic.
There is plenty more information to released over the next few weeks/months and we’ll post it up as soon as it is available. Entries will be available to anyone and everyone and we hope to see all of you again from last years’ event and some new faces.
We encourage anyone participating, or interested, in freeride to come along and enjoy riding with others of all experience levels. Remember – this isn’t a competition – its all about having FUN!!!
We can’t wait to see everyone back again for the 5th Anniversary of the Yamaha NZ Festival of Freeride. New Zealand’s Premiere Surf Freestyle event!!
